The Platte River Fitness Series was developed to encourage continued and on-going active living. Active living is an important key to a healthy community. The Series
began with seven Lincoln County fitness events in 2008 and
has grown to nine events in 2009. The events will provide consistent motivation, giving participants a goal to work toward throughout the year. Individuals will receive points for their participation in each event. Additional points are earned by placing in ones age-group in a particular event. Point totals will be tabulated
and winners will be determined after the December,
2009 event. Special Platte River Fitness Series T-shirts will go to all participants who complete all
nine events. Cash prizes will be awarded to the overall men’s and women’s point winners, and prizes will be awarded to the top three point winners in each gender and age category.

Points are awarded and accumulated for all
nine of our Series events as follows: 12 points for participating in each
event (4 points awarded for each leg of the relay in the triathlons. Participants must compete as an individual to receive all 12 participation points.); 10 points for winning one’s age group (in each division in events that have separate divisions), 8 points for second, 6 for third, then 5-4-3-2-1 for 4th through 8th. In addition, bonus points of 3, 2, and 1 will be added to the overall top three in each event by gender. If a participant places first in ones age-group in the fitness division, they must enter the competitive division in the next event having separate divisions. Age groups will be 19 & under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 & over.
